There are few photos of our time today at the Unicorn Center, a facility that provides activity and employment for people living with intellectual or developmental disabilities. Photography was not allowed. Our purpose today was to help supervise the customers of the Unicorn Center during what was essentially their Field Day. After a brief check-in and orientation, we began to introduce ourselves to some very sweet people. Our time began with Zumba dancing, which our group really got into, especially the boys. Then we divided among several stations, each with a game like bowling or foosball. The customers would play with us for a time, receive a prize, and move on to their next station. After Field Day, we returned to a time of dancing, then ended by performing the two praise songs we learned for the trip, as well as two favorites of the customers, “Amazing Grace” and “This Little Light of Mine.”
We said our goodbyes, and then the ministry portion of our week was at an end. We traveled to Six Flags Fiesta Texas, built within an old quarry, to enjoy several hours of roller coasters and water slides.
Once back at the hotel we spent a final night responding to the heartfelt letters from our prayer partners. The youth were excited to receive their letters each night.
We look forward to a day of safe travels tomorrow.
