Special Report: Homebased Zoning
A five part series

By Christopher L. Hansen for Entrepreneur.com

"An explosion of homebased businesses in recent years has led many officials nationwide to reassess their antiquated zoning laws which were designed to separate commercial from residential uses. This was a simple plan when few worked at home and business usually meant customers would be on site or noise would disturb neighbors. But now that global operations can be conducted invisibly from a spare bedroom with no disturbance to neighbors, outdated concepts about compatible and incompatible uses of a residence are being revised."

On behalf of the Home Based Business Council, I am pleased to announce a new and enhanced web site is currently being developed.  Due to funding issues, we are currently sharing domains through the generosity of one of our benefactors.  Our new site will be uniquely ours.  The only change you will need to know is that typing "hbbc.org" will bring you directly to our home page.  You will not need to type "hbbc.org/hbbc" any more!

We received e-mail from members and visitors with suggestions on improving our web presence.  We met with web design and usability professionals to discuss how we can best create a site useful for all visitors -- from those new to the Internet, to those who cannot live without it.  We reviewed our content and made an extensive list of changes that will best serve the needs of you and your fellow seekers of information about small and home-based businesses.  In a nutshell, we've done quite a bit, while continuing to be the voice of home-based business, advocating for the rights of home-based business owners, holding free seminars on business selection, and more.

Yes, we have been doing a lot, but the time has come to get moving and get our site done.

I'd like to tell you when we anticipate the grand opening, but due to time constraints, that's just not possible.  Nonetheless, I promise to keep you informed, right here.

Wishing you health, happiness, and prosperity,
