David Hailey has been pastor of Hayes Barton Baptist Church since 1996. A native Midwesterner (Chillicothe, IL), Dave traveled a circuitous route to Raleigh, North Carolina . Educated in Tennessee and Kentucky, he has served churches in Tennessee, Georgia and North Carolina, long enough to cultivate a Southern drawl and a love for grits!
Married for more than three decades, Dave and Susan are the proud parents of three adult children.
Though not natives of the Old North State, the Haileys have long since considered North Carolina as home. Vacations to both the mountains and the beach have created family memories for a lifetime.
When not at church, Dave likes to read and play golf (though he’s never been any good at it!). Susan, an English teacher by day, enjoys travel, especially to our beloved Scotland. They both love showing their true-blue colors by cheering for Duke basketball and football. And yes, Dave will probably never stop celebrating the long-awaited 2016 World Series Championship of the Chicago Cubs!! Go Cubs Go! Make it a Dynasty.

Reverend Kristen Muse came to Hayes Barton Baptist Church as the Minister with Children in February of 2003 after serving in Greensboro. Kristen received her Bachelor of Science degree from UNC-Greensboro in Elementary Education in 1998. After teaching for one year, she followed God’s call and earned a Master of Divinity from Campbell University in 2003.
Kristen has lived in a variety of places. She was born in Cincinnati, Ohio and moved to New Jersey. When she was 5, she moved to North Carolina. She still remembers having her speech corrected for several years upon moving from New Jersey. She has lived throughout North Carolina, in Fayetteville, Asheville, Greensboro, and now Raleigh. She still has fond memories and friends in each place.
In August 2011, Kristen transitioned into the role of Associate Pastor. She is now responsible for the areas of Christian Education, Communications, Outreach, Missions, and Pastoral Care. Kristen enjoys the opportunity to walk beside members of all ages as they discover together ways to grow in their love of God and others. Philippians 1:6 is a verse that helps guide her ministry as she remembers that faith is a process and in the presence of Christian community we are able to have the freedom to discover who God wants us to be in the world.
Kristen is married to Rankin. Although opposites in many ways, their marriage has shown them how much their gifts work to complement each other. These days they spend much of their time with their two children. Kristen also enjoys scrapbooking, working out at the Y, spending time outdoors, and being with family and friends.

Lisa Anthony came to Hayes Barton Baptist Church as our Church Administrator in August of 2012. She is a Certified Public Accountant with a calling to the ministry she defines as “faith and finances.” Lisa received her Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Fayetteville State University in 1987. She began her accounting career working in small firms for thirteen years, gaining experience in auditing, tax compliance, compilation, and fraud re-construction work. While discerning a call to ordained ministry, Lisa moved to church accounting and has served at Hayes Barton Methodist Church and Highland United Methodist Church. She now feels her feet are firmly planted in the administrative ministry of the church.
Lisa’s greatest motivation is to provide financial information that is understandable and meaningful, to the end that the church is able to make ministry decisions, led by God and empowered by knowledge and faith to step outside of comfort zones and make a difference in the world for Christ.
Lisa was born and raised in Ohio, marrying her high school sweetheart, Phil. Together, they traveled across the country as he served eight years in the US Air Force. Once they settled in North Carolina, Phil returned to school to earn a Juris Doctorate in Law from Campbell University. They have one daughter, Grace, who completed her Bachelor’s Degree in Philosophy at the University of North Carolina in 2014 and is now attending Law School there. The family holds membership at St. Andrews United Methodist Church in Garner, where they participate in various ministries including choir, youth fellowship, Moravian Love Feast, teaching Sunday School, and more.
Lisa loves gardening, walking and running, and kayaking, but mostly she enjoys spending quality time with family and friends.

Beth Dickinson has been the Director of Hayes Barton Baptist Preschool (HBBP) since July 2007. Prior to HBBP, she was preschool director at Lutheran Church of Reconciliation in Wilmington, NC. Beth has a Bachelor of Science in Advertising from the University of Florida in 1993. It didn’t take her long to realize she was called to work with children, something that advertising didn’t allow her to do. She earned a Master’s in Elementary Education from the University of Central Florida in 1997.
Beth taught elementary school, mostly 3rd grade, in Orlando, Florida before having children and relocating back to North Carolina. At that time, Beth realized the call to a church preschool, which she believes is the best of everything in early childhood education! She loves getting to know the children and families. Visiting the classroom (especially the younger ones) is the greatest ego boost and pick-me-up! Beth loves the opportunity to watch the children grow in so many ways during their preschool years.
Beth is married to Rob Dickinson and they have two children, Tyler & Brooke. When not chauffeuring children to and from activities or watching their soccer games, Beth is an avid volunteer at their schools. In her “spare time” she enjoys nightly walks with her husband and dog, spending time with family and friends, and cheering on her Florida Gators!
